Former Alabama linebacker re-enters NCAA transfer portal
Butch Dill-USA TODAY Sports

A fearsome linebacker from the 2021 recruiting cycle has re-entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Kendrick Blackshire, a native of Duncanville, Texas, looked a Marvel comic book character in high school.

The former four-star dominated his competition, punishing quarterbacks and running backs. The 6-foot-2, 233-pounder was a sculpted specimen that chose the University of Alabama as his collegiate home over LSU, Texas A&M, and nearly 30 other schools. His path started well for the Crimson Tide, carving a role on special teams and in the inside linebacker rotation.

Blackshire played in 25 games from 2021 to 2023 — totaling 27 tackles, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hurries, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He played on two Southeastern Conference Championship teams (2021, 2023) and two College Football Playoff teams (2021, 2023). Blackshire would enter the transfer portal shortly after the 2023 season and chose the University of Texas at Austin as his new home. Now at 261 pounds, Blackshire is back in the portal after spending spring practice with the Longhorns. Several media outlets have reported the news, but does the native Texan return to the Crimson Tide?

We will see what happens moving forward, but Blackshire is back in the portal.
