The Masters 2024: Is longshot Tiger Woods worth your money?

Once you get past the hoopla surrounding the ongoing merger talks and the sponsor fallouts, golf fans everywhere can focus on their two favorite topics ahead of the upcoming professional golf season: The Masters, and how Tiger Woods will compete.

As Yardbarker has shown in years past, it's never too early to see what the odds are for the Masters — or where oddsmakers have Woods listed. The 15-time major winner withdrew from last year's event at Augusta National despite making the cut to play on Sunday and then had season-ending surgery that has kept him off of the links. But now the 47-year-old is raring to go, telling the press back in November that he foresees himself potentially playing in one event a month.

What does that mean for Woods's betting odds at the 2024 Masters? And should you consider wagering on him?

The GOAT may be ready for a comeback tour, but sportsbooks aren't all in on the Cinderella story. That's certainly evident over at DraftKings, where Woods is listed as a 100-1 long shot to win the 2024 Masters.

But that doesn't mean there won't be fans everywhere emptying out their wallets to wager on Woods to make the unthinkable happen. Bettors heavily backed Woods ahead of the Masters the last two years even though he has been a long shot each time.

This trend of betting on Woods regardless of his odds has made sportsbooks very nervous heading into the first major of the season since so much money on one long shot is a liability for sportsbooks. But even at this season's long odds, there is no doubt bettors will give oddsmakers that same fear as they put money on Woods once again.

Should you be putting money on Woods as well to win the 2024 Masters? You have a little bit of time to make that decision since the event doesn't tee off until April 11 this year.

And if a safer bet is more your style, you can always throw some money down on world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler or last year's Masters winner Jon Rahm. Both of them are 8-1 favorites to win the Masters this time around.
