The Jordan Poole Experience is getting worse for the Washington Wizards. Washington’s best acquisition this summer had his worst performance of the season thus far in a 120-99 blowout loss to the New York Knicks.
Poole finished the game with a season-low eight points on 2-of-11 shooting from the field. He missed all six of his three-point attempts. Poole posted a rating of minus 18. He posted a negative rating in all but one of his 12 games.
The loss drops the Wizards to a 2-10 record. Patience is running thin for Poole from the Wizards’ faithful.

If Poole wasn’t making $30MM, he personally wouldn’t be in my rotation. That’s how bad he’s been most of this season.

It’s in his head right now. He’s in a huge funk. But he won’t get out of it by playing with some of the worst bball habits I’ve seen.

Not even the presence of rapper Rubi Rose could spark Poole

The Wizards acquired Poole from the Golden State Warriors in a blockbuster trade this past summer. Washington’s new front office considered Poole a centerpiece after flipping the page on Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis.
Unfortunately, Poole has been a dud. He has not resembled any of the positives that made him an integral part of the Warriors’ latest championship run.
Poole averaged a career-high 20.4 points last season despite the infamous punch incident with former teammate Draymond Green in the preseason. Washington hoped they would get a budding star ready to take the next level with a green light. Instead, Poole has been dreadful, forcing fans to question Washington’s decision to trade Chris Paul.
Through 12 games this season, Poole is averaging 15.5 points. He is shooting 39.2 percent on field goals and 27.8 percent from three. Despite the struggles, Wizards head coach Wes Unseld believes Poole’s breakthrough is coming.
Wizards fans can only hope that breakthrough comes to fruition. Just as former basketball star Paul Pierce alluded Poole is struggling to adjust to the increased attention. More importantly, Poole must find a way to regain his confidence, or matters may get more unfavorable.
