Phoenix Suns Star Wants to Leave the Team After Embarrassing 2024 Playoff Run
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

When the Phoenix Suns greenlit the bombastic Bradley Beal trade last summer, many thought that this was finally the year for Devin Booker to win it all.

He’s not returned to the finals since 2021, and he would have hoped that teaming up with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal would be the boost he needed to return to the summit and finally bring home the Larry O’Brien trophy to Phoenix.

However, his team’s bitter loss at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves put a huge question mark on the team’s future. They gutted their future in their rabid chase for the ring, and all they have to show is a first-round exit where they didn’t even take a single game away from the Wolves.

This fact puts a lot of strain on the Suns’ future. People are already calling out the owner for his excessive involvement in team operations, and others are calling out Frank Vogel for his mishandling of the team.

However, the problem doesn’t end there are rumors surfaced of Booker possibly calling it a day in Phoenix.

Devin Booker may leave the Phoenix Suns due to team’s playoff struggles

The source of the rumors is Stephen A. Smith, one of the most well-known names in sports media. He claimed that the shooting guard is tired of falling short in the playoffs and is probably looking to move on to the New York Knicks.

Per The Spun’s Andrew Holleran:

“[Devin Booker] might deny it, I haven’t spoken to him. I’m just telling you the scuttlebutt in the NBA circles is that brother wanna be in New York,” Smith said on Monday.

It’s easy to see why Booker would be interested in playing for a team like the Knicks. They have an outstanding point guard in Jalen Brunson, and the team is full of outstanding role players who can allow a volume scorer like him to slot in and take over during close games.

However, it’s also important that Smith is a rabid Knicks fan and is probably doing this is part of his recruitment drive to bring the 27.1 PPG guard to the Garden.
