Green Bay Packers Coach Excited About Direction of Offense
USA TODAY NETWORK

The 2023 NFL season was a roller coaster ride for the Green Bay Packers on offense. Of course, that is something head coach Matt LaFleur and his staff expected given the youthfulness and inexperience on that side of the ball.

Not only was the team turning the reins of the offense over to a first-time starting quarterback in Jordan Love, but his supporting cast was just as green. There wasn’t a single wide receiver on the roster with more than one season of NFL experience under their belt. Only one tight end, Josiah Deguara, had taken a snap in the NFL heading into the season.

The offensive line was expected to be a strength of the team, but injuries led to some shuffling along the unit. Eventually, players were in positions for the first time there, leading to some bumps in the road.

Alas, this was a resilient group. Despite some rough times at the start, they began to find their groove about midway through the season. A few hiccups occurred, but the true potential of this group was beginning to show.

Heading into the 2024 season, many people are predicting the Green Bay Packers to take another step forward. Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich is very excited about what is to come, as he expects them to be even better this season.

“Oh, it’s night and day,” Stenavich said. “Night and day because last year … you didn’t really know what direction you could go yet because you didn’t really know … how much can you put on these guys’ plates and allow them to go out and execute? Now, everyone has a year under their belt, so to speak. It’s been great to just know what these guys are good at.”

The 2023 season was a learning experience for everyone. With so many new faces in important places on the Green Bay Packers offense, patience needed to be exhibited. Rome wasn’t built in a day and the team had a first-time starter replacing a Hall of Famer to lead the way.

The NFC North will be even stronger in 2024 with the Chicago Bears poised to break out of their rebuild. The Detroit Lions aren’t going anywhere and the Minnesota Vikings still possess a lot of firepower.

Alas, the Green Bay Packers will be improved, too. There are some big expectations on the team, as they look to return to the level of contenders in the conference.
